A Few Reminders

How's your long weekend been?  Ours has been busy.  We've been taking down the Thanksgiving decorations, putting up the holiday decorations, eating Thanksgiving leftovers and shopping a little bit.

I'm not crazy about getting out of bed early to hit the stores as the gates open.  We usually hit the mall on Friday night after our weekly family pizza get together.  I know the good stuff is gone, but I still manage to find some good deals.

We did some shopping online....which I LOVE!!!!  I also picked up some of the bundles that Stampin' Up! has on sale for the holiday weekend.  I love a good deal!!!

Now, some of the bundles have sold out.  I told you they were limited!!!!  How can you tell if the bundle is gone?  Well, the price does not show up on the ones that are sold out!!!!  There are still quite a few bundles still available for purchase!!!  This Holiday Extravaganza sale in only until December 1st.

In a Scrappin' Mood

  Once again, I've been in a scrappin' mood.  I printed off a whole bunch of pictures online and sent them to my local Target.  I LOVE this!!  I can print exactly the pictures I want and pick them up when I go grocery shopping.

These pictures are of our first pumpkin picking trip living in MN.  It was a beautiful Fall day spent with my brother and his family (baby Emma was asleep so we don't have pics of her at the patch).

I used the photos and the patterned paper to help me with my cardstock color selection.  I used this year's Ghostly Greetings patterned paper pack for both the strip on the left and the backdrop for the date. 

I made the adorable jack-o-lantern using the Autumn Harvest stamp set.  I stamped the pumpkin on Pumpkin Pie cardstock and cut him out.  I also stamped him on some Old Olive.  I only cut out the stem of this one and glue it on top of the jack-o-lantern.

The "p" from the title is a piece of chipboard that I colored with Basic Black craft ink and a sponge dauber.  I then quickly sprinkled on some clear embossing powder and heated 'til shiny.  The rest of the title was stamped using my Simple Serif mini alphabet.

I have fun little touches all over this page.....the scallop edge on the left side of the patterned paper, the small oval punches folded over the edges for a cool embellishment.  My favorite part is how I did the date.  It uses both the Word Window punch and 1 3/8" circle punch layered over each other.

I love this page.....but not as much as all those kids that we had at the patch with us that day!!!!

Aren't long holiday weekends the best?  I love stampin' and scrappin' in my jammies!!!!

Happy Thanksgiving!!!

I just wanted to wish everyone a happy Thanksgiving (if you live outside of the United States....have yourself a wonderful day)!!!!

I am anxiously anticipating the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.  We're on a time delay here in MN so we don't see the NBC broadcast live.  I love NBCs broadcast with all the Broadway shows!!!

Are you shopping tomorrow?  I still have to look at the ads, but I am definitely not getting up at 3am when our mall opens.  Yikes....that's too early for this lady who loves her sleepy-time!!!

If you are traveling somewhere today, be safe!!!  Remember, give thanks for all life has to offer.

I also noticed that the Curly Label bundle price is wrong on the Online Ordering website.  The original price is $33.95.  The sale price is $23.76.  The sale price does come up when you place it in the cart.  It's just wrong where they describe the bundle.  How do I know?  Yup....just ordered it....LOL!!!!!  Stampin' Up! knows about it and will have it fixed in a jiffy!!!!

Playing in the Stampin' Studio

  I was looking at a pile of scraps on my stampin' desk (procrastinating left and right about cleaning the desk off) and decided to make something with them.

This is what I came up with.  Not bad for a pile of scraps!!!

I stamped the large flower from my Doodle This stamp set two times on Riding Hood Red cardstock.  I carefully cut them out and sponged a little with Riding Hood Red ink.  The top flower is mounted on a dimensional to give a more 3D effect.  The center of the flower is a 1/2" circle punched out from a scrap of Holiday Treasures DSP.

The Chocolate Chip base card measures 4" x 4".  The next layer is Kiwi Kiss that has been paper pierced and then sponged with Close to Cocoa ink.  I added a torn piece of the same patterned paper (from Holiday Treasures) I used for the flower center.

The sentiment comes from A Cardinal Christmas.  This is stamped in Chocolate Chip ink.

This cute little card is perfect to add to the top of any special gift!!!  Dontcha think????

It's a Holiday Extravaganza

Celebrating You

 

My sister-in-law Andrea celebrated her birthday last week.  We all got together for dinner to celebrate the occasion.  This is the card I made for her special day.

Andrea loves chocolate and polka dots.....so this card fits her perfectly.

The base card is Chocolate Chip.  The polka dotted paper (from the Chocolate Chip Prints pack) is brayered with Baja Breeze ink.  This is a great way to make the white polka dots any color you want to match your card!!!  This transformed patterned paper is matted on a 1/8" larger piece of Baja Breeze cardstock.

The focal image is FUN!!!  I used my Top Note die and some Baja Breeze cardstock for the die cut (LOVE this one!!!).  Now this image looks dry embossed, but it's really not.  I used the Faux Dry Embossing technique.  Here's how to do it:  stamp the daisy image (from Upsy Daisy) with Baja Breeze ink.  Using your Stamp-a-ma-jig, stamp the same image (this time with Whisper White craft ink) just a little bit to the right and slightly below the first stamped image!!!  I then heavily sponged the edges with Baja Breeze ink.

Now, I did use a retired sentiment stamp on this card.  It's from a set called Mixed Greetings (I believe from a Summer Mini catalog about 2-3 years ago).

I also used some of the fabulous Baja Breeze striped grosgrain ribbon.  My favorite part of this card is this awesome butterfly.  It's from Dreams duJour.  I stamped it on Whisper White cardstock using Chocolate Chip ink.  Carefully cut it out using very sharp scissors and mount on the card using a dimensional. 

I'm so glad Andrea loved her card!!!!

The Sweetest Birthday Ever

  I think this one of my favorite birthday cards I have ever made.  It uses my favorite patterned paper....Sweet Always DSP pack, one of my favorite stamp sets.....Crazy for Cupcakes and my favorite new In Color.....Pirouette Pink.

This card was from my "Just Cards" class that was held this past Friday.  This is the special card of the month (special technique or fancy fold, etc.....).  It's a buckle card.  I also taught the ladies how to watercolor using markers and an Aquapainter.  Wow!  They got a lot of new ideas from this class!!!

The base card is Chocolate Chip (5 1/2" x 4 1/4").  The next layer is Pink Pirouette (same color as cotton candy....YUM-O)!!!  This piece measures 4" x 8 3/4" scored at the 5 1/4" mark. 

The cupcake is stamped on watercolor paper.  I used the following markers to color it in (Regal Rose, Creamy Caramel, Close to Cocoa, Pumpkin Pie, Summer Sun).  The key is to use really thick watercolor paper (140 lb) and keep blending.  I sponged the edges of the watercolor paper with Close to Cocoa ink and matted it on some Pumpkin Pie cardstock.

I used my Word Window punch to make the slot for the strip.  The buckle strip is from a piece of Regal Rose.  Although you can't see it in the picture, the end of the strip is rounded using the Corner Rounder punch.  I added some wide Chocolate Chip double-stitched grosgrain and taped it along my strip.  The sentiment is stamped and then punched with the Large Oval punch.  I placed it on top of a scrap of Pumpkin Pie that was punched with the Designer Label punch.

This was definitely the favorite card of the class!!!  I thought it would be perfect to share with all of you that always mention how they would love to attend my classes but live too far away.  This one's for you my long-distance stamping friends!!!!

Yup, it's true.  Stampin' Up! has a BIG secret, and they aren't telling anyone yet.  Not even their demonstrators.  It's driving me crazy not knowing!!!  LOL!!!!
