A Guy Card...with Mower Later.......

  I spent a part of yesterday working on a swap that is due later this week.  I miscounted and made an extra base card.  So, I used the base to create a different "guy" card. 

I used a brand new stamp set called "And Many Mower".  It's from the Occasions Mini catalog and is available for purchase beginning Wed. April 1st.  It is chock full of images perfect for the guys in your life.  I hear all the time that Stampin' Up! needs to make more masculine stamp sets.  Well, they've listened and delivered!!!

A Blogger's Challenge to "Die" For

  This week's challenge was to use a template or a die cut.  All of you know how much I adore my Big Shot.  So that was a no brainer.  Now....which die to use?  After some serious consideration, I decided to use my brand new Matchbox die.  This die will be available in the Occasions Mini Catalog starting on April 1st.  Demos were allowed to preorder the mini catalog products during the month of March.  Gotta love those demo perks!!!!  If you're thinking of becoming a demo, I would love to have you join my team.  Email me so we can talk about it!!!

Anyway, since it is Spring and weddings are just around the corner, I thought a wedding ensemble would be a perfect project for this challenge.  The wedding ensemble includes an invitation and a favor box.  I LOVE the way they turned out!!!

Let's break down the projects individually (warning....this is going to be kinda long):

Invitation

The Chocolate Chip base card is  4 1/4" x 11", folded in half.

Cut a piece of Pink Pirouette cardstock to 4" x 5 1/4"

Cut a piece of Vellum cardstock to 4" x 5 1/4"

Place the piece of vellum cardstock in the Manhattan Flower Impressions die and run through the Big Shot.  Trim 1 1/2" off the bottom of the vellum.

Punch a 1 1/2" x 4" piece of Shimmery White cardstock using the Eyelet Border Punch. 

Attach the vellum to the Pink Pirouette cardstock with SNAIL adhesive (the ribbon will cover any adhesive that shows)

Add the punched piece of Shimmery White to the bottom of the vellum.  Cover the seam using some White Organza Ribbon (seriously, this stuff is so incredible).

Attach to the base card and tie a length of White Organza Ribbon into a classic knot....trim the ends on a diagonal.

 

Favor Box

Cut a piece of Pink Pirouette and Chocolate Chip cardstock to 5 1/2" x 6 1/2"

Use the Pink Pirouette and the Manhattan Flower Impressions Die in the Big Shot to emboss the image.

Place the Pink Pirouette cardstock on top of the Matchbox Die (placing it over the area for the outer sleeve of the box) and run throught the Big Shot.  Assemble according to instructions.

Place the Chocolate Chip cardstock on top of the Matchbox Die (placing it over the area for the inner portion of the box) and run through the Big Shot.  Assemble according to instructions.

Slide the inner part of the box into the sleeve.  Wrap the box with White Organza Ribbon and tie into a classic knot.  Trim the ends on a diagonal.

Whew!!!  My fingers are tired from all this typing!!!

Finally!!!!

  I am SO sorry!!!  I promised you a project, but the battery was dead on the camera and then my stampers came for my "Mom & Me" Stamp Camp.

This class was a blast.  The kids did most of the stamping while the moms were there to help if they needed it.  The kids did fabulous....not much grown up help at all!!!

This was one of the projects we made last night.  It uses a stamp set from the Occasions Mini Catalog (which starts on April 1st).  It's called Just Beachy, and it is WAY too cute!!!!

Now, it was a challenge to keep the projects simple for the kiddos.  The ages of the children ranged from 6 to 11 years old.  So, the projects needed to be fun and on the simple side.  Sometimes simple isn't so easy for me!!!  LOL!!!

The Pacific Point page measures 6"x6".  On the bottom I have a strip of Tangerine Tango that measures 2" x 6".  The kids stamped the word "swim" using Tangerine Tango ink and the Schoolbook Serif alphabet.  I taught the kids to stamp from right to left in order to get the spacing correct.  It's hard to see but there is also a sun stamped in the lower left corner.

The place where the cardstock meets is hidden with some Tangerine Tango double-striped grosgrain ribbon.

The photo will be matted on some Green Galore that has been matted on Whisper White.

The fishies are stamped on Whisper White and punched with a 1 1/4" circle punch.  They are colored in with markers and matted on Tempting Turquoise and Tangerine Tango (punched with 1 3/8" circle punch).

The kids loved their page.  They planned on putting this page in a scrapbook they decorated at last night's class too!!

Everyone seemed to have a blast!!!!

"Mom & Me" Class

It's Sunday night....already?  The weekend just flew by.  Chris had his TKD midterms on Friday, the TKD tournament on Sat for both Dennis and Chris and Amanda danced at the MN Timberwolves game today.  Whew.....I told you we were busy!!!

I just wanted to drop in and say hi!!!!!  I am heading down to the basement after dinner to design for my newest class.......

Mom & Me

This class is a perfect way to spend time with your daughter (5 years and older please).  Teaching a child to use their creative side of their brain is SO important.  As much as people love to receive something from a child, when that item is handmade it just makes it seem so much more special.

During this class we will be making

- a handstamped scrapbook

- a papercrafted purse

- a birthday card

- a "Mom & Me" 6x6 scrapbook page

Think Spring

  Happy First Day of Spring!!  Woo hoo!!!  All of the snow is nearly melted, but I know that we're going to get hit with one more "doozy" of a snowstorm before Ol' Man Winter finally gives it up for the year.  It seems to be inevitable every year.  I can always hope for it not to happen, right?

Anyway, today's Blogger's Challenge theme is "Think Spring".  When I hear the word Spring, I think of bright colors, tulips, birds chirping and Easter.  This card emcompasses all those things!!!

The Certainly Celery base card measures 4 1/4" square.  The next layer is Cameo Coral that has been stamped with the Sanded background stamp using Cameo Coral ink. 

I used my Circle Scissor to cut a circle from Apricot Appeal cardstock.  I used my Big Shot and the swirly Texturz Plate (from Backgrounds 1 pack) to give the cardstock some texture.  The edges were then sponged with Apricot Appeal ink.  I adhered the circle to the Cameo Coral cardstock and used my paper trimmer to trim off the excess. 

The focal image is from an adorable stamp set called "A Flower for All Seasons".  Its stamped on watercolor paper using Black StazOn ink.  I used my Stampin' Write markers and an Aquapainter to watercolor my image.  The focal image was matted on some Certainly Celery cardstock.

The finishing touches include some Certainly Celery Polytwill ribbon (part of this year's Sale-a-bration ribbon bundle) and two Certainly Celery brads (from the Soft Subtles brads pack).

For Your Manly Man

  I was singing a song this morning.....in a panic no less....."where oh where did my mojo go?  oh where, oh where can it be?".  LOL!!!  You see, I had a Just Cards class this afternoon and left my final card design to the last minute.  I worked on the design last night (half of this card), but the focal image wasn't working for me.  So, I headed to the Stampin' Studio this morning (after a good night's sleep) and after a few different focal image changes, I am happy to say that I really LOVE my final design.  My stampers loved it too!!!  They always love a good guy card!!!

The base card is Chocolate Chip.  Now the drama from this card comes from this fabulous patterned paper.  It comes from the "To the Nines" designer series paper pack.  This paper is a heavier weight than typical SU patterned paper, and it's textured.  VERY NICE!!!!

The patterned paper (and the 1/2" strip on the left) is sitting upon Kraft cardstock.  I think Kraft cardstock is fabulous for "guy" cards!!!  Before the piece is added to the base card I attached some Chocolate Chip wide grosgrain ribbon and hemp twine. 

The sentiment (from Sincere Salutations) is stamped on Mellow Moss cardstock, punched with the Keytag Punch and sponged with Close to Cocoa ink.  I popped it up on dimensionals to give it a little extra "oomph".

The focal image (from my beloved Lovely As a Tree stamp set) is stamped with Chocolate Chip ink on Mellow Moss cardstock.  I sponged the edges with Close to Cocoa ink and matted it on Chocolate Chip cardstock.

At the bottom of the 1/2" Kraft strip, I added two 5/16" Chocolate Chip brads.  These new brads add just the right touch.

Like I mentioned before, the textured patterned paper makes this card.  It's so fabulous to work with!!

It Ain't Easy Being Green

  Do you remember Kermit the Frog singing that song on the Muppet Show? 

Well this froggie seems to be happy especially with that grin on his face!!!  Maybe it's because it's St. Patrick's Day and green is the "in" color for the day!!!

This card is another card we will be making at my Just Cards class on Wednesday.  Can you spot some of the techniques featured on this card?  Did you guess Paper Piecing and Spritz Stamping?

Chick This Out

I am happy to report that we had a gorgeous weekend here in MN.  The sun was shining, and it was above 50 both days.  Yes!!!!  I am going to try to ignore the colder temps that are supposed to hit us later this week.  LOL!!!

I am also happy report that I spent two hours in the Stampin' Studio designing for this Wednesday's "Just Cards" class.  This monthly class is just as it reads.....we only make cards......four cards to be exact.  One card is always a little extra special.  It can have a funky fold....or a more advanced technique.  The project I am going to show you is THAT card.  It's a hinge card, and it was so much fun to make!!!

Isn't it cute?  When you swing open the egg, you get to see the adorable little chickie tucked inside!!!
