This sketch is going to be one you will use over and over again.
Now, you all probably know this, but I LOVE MY JOB as a Stampin' Up! demonstrator!!! I get to teach my stamping friends (both in person and via my blog) how to unleash their creativity!! I also love being spoiled by this company.
When I attended the Phoenix regional seminar last month, all the demonstrators attending the regional were given a challenge. If you completed the challenge within two weeks, Stampin' Up! would mail you a stamp set from the upcoming Summer Mini catalog.
The stamp set was delivered this afternoon. After dinner, I rushed into the Stampin' Studio to play with it.
Would you like to see a sneak peek?
Now, out of all the ice cream flavors on this card, my favorite would be the first one. I am imagining it as the Watermelon Sherbet I used to eat as a kid when I lived in New York. The ice cream parlor was called Heritage, and it closed years ago. Whenever I see watermelon sherbet at any ice cream store, I get really excited hoping it will taste like the one from Heritage. I haven't found one close yet......but it's a quest!!!
I guess I better start chit chattin' about this card, huh?
The base card is Apricot Appeal.
The Tempting Turquoise layer is embossed with the Perfect Polka Dot Impressions Folder.
Want to know what I love about the Stamping 411? Besides the operators sharing tips and techniques with our readers, we also learn things from the ladies who link their projects to our blog. One of our readers, Beth, shared how she used the Scallop Trim border punch to create a notch at each end of the oval. It is GENIUS!!!!
Using her tutorial, I notched the small oval and fed some Apricot Appeal ribbon through it. I attached a Latte button (threaded with a thin sliver of Green Galore cardstock) to the center of the oval.
Now, for the fun part!!! The focal image.
I first worked on the cones. I inked up the cones with Creamy Caramel ink. Before stamping, I edged the stamp with my Creamy Caramel marker to make it more pronounced.
Each ice cream scoop is inked, stamped off and then kissed to the texture stamp included in the stamp set. The ice cream colors (from left to right) are Regal Rose, Tempting Turquoise and Green Galore. I stamped the sentiment with Chocolate Chip ink.
I added some Dazzling Diamonds to make it all sparkly.......just like a frosty scoop of ice cream on a hot summer's day!!!
Are you ready to take the Sketch Challenge? If you do, make sure you link it up to the Stamping 411 blog using the Mr. Linky widget so we can take a peek. Every Friday, we showcase our five favorite projects from the week.
Until next time....Happy Stamping everyone!!
