Gift Card Holder

It seems that the gift card is always a "safe" gift to give someone.  All you need is an inkling to what kind of stuff they like.

There's not much fun in giving a gift card........unless you make something really cool to present it in.

Connie Babbert, one of my fellow Stamping 411 operators, showed us how to make a sliding gift card holder during one of her 3D Thrifty Wednesday articles.  Click HERE to view Connie's wonderful tutorial.  

I love it.....just pull on the scallop circle and out slides my gift card.  Wanna see?

Isn't it cool?  The gift card is nestled between a tag (cut with the Two Tagz Bigz die).

I used two Sale-a-bration freebies when making my project.......the Punch Bunch stamp set and the Ice Cream Parlor dsp.  I just love the bright colors!!!!!

Helpful hint:  Ink the entire image with Pumpkin Pie ink, grab a q-tip and wet it, remove the ink from the greeting and the flower.  Using markers, ink up the greeting and flower, huff on the stamp and stamp it onto the cardstock.

Jammie Day Gift Card Holder

As Yukon Cornelius (from Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer) would say....."this day is not fit for man or beast".  Ooooooohhhh....the snow is coming down fast....and the wind is howling.......the snow drifts are getting high.   You know what that means?  IT'S JAMMIE DAY!!!!!  There's no need to get dressed when you can be ultra-comfy in your jammies all day long!  Woo hoo!

To celebrate jammie day, I wanted to share a gift card holder with you. 

 

Now, I know what you're thinking.  Huh?  It's just a decorated Top Note die.  Yes....that's true!  But, this is different!!!  Come see...........

 
Can you see how it works?  The Glimmer Brad acts as a swing mechanism to unveil the bottom Top Note die........and that's where the gift card treasure is found!

Cool, huh?  Easy?  Yup!!!!

paper:  Very Vanilla, Crumb Cake, Real Red Patterns DSP Stack
ink:  Always Artichoke, Chocolate Chip
accessories:  Big Shot, Top Note die, Glimmer Brad Brights, Basic Rhinestones, sponges

Gift Card Holder

I mentioned the other day that I was cleaning out the Stampin' Studio.  I'm pulling all my retired goodies and getting ready for my big sale in July.

Anyway, I came across some instructions from a make-n-take from the Minneapolis Regional in 2009.   

The instructions are for a double gift card holder.  I just used the cardstock dimensions and changed everything else.

My gift card holder starts with a 6" x 9 3/4" piece of Night of Navy cardstock.

On the 6" side, score at 2 1/2".

On the 9 3/4" side, score at 4 3/4" and 5".

Fold on all the score lines.

Use some Sticky Strip to keep the sides of the gift card area closed. 

Wrap a 16" piece of Bashful Blue Satin Ribbon around the gift card holder and tie into a classic knot.  Don't trim the ends too short....otherwise the recipient won't be able to tie it shut again.

I decorated the front of my gift card holder with some of the Presto Patterns specialty paper.  This stuff is awesome.  It's a thick white paper that has clear embossed patterns already on it.  You can sponge it, smooch spritz it, sponge dauber it, etc.  In this case, I chose to brayer it with some Night of Navy ink.  Just keep inking your brayer and rolling over the paper until you get the saturation of color you desire.  It's THAT easy!

The lower portion of the front is a part of a Top Note die cut.  I stamped the sentiment (from Teeny Tiny Wishes) in Night of Navy ink.

All that's left is my amazing butterfly.  It's cut from Bashful Blue cardstock using the Beautiful Butterflies Bigz die.  I stamped the large floral spray image from Elements of Style using Bashful Blue ink.  I also sponged the edges of the butterfly with the same ink.

The finishing touch is some adhesive backed rhinestones (from the retired Eggcellent Eggs kit).  They finish my butterfly off perfectly.

Imagine this gift card holder for a wedding, anniversary, shower, etc......  Just change the colors and stamp set to fit the theme!
