I want to thank my good friend Selene (the sketch queen) for getting me out of my comfort zone with this week's sketch.
After making dinner, I took my first glance at this week's sketch. My first words can't really be repeated on this blog, but I was a brave soul. I headed down to my Stampin' Studio with a totally different card in mind.
My original design included the Cottage Wall dsp and some butterflies.
Would you like to see what my card actually looks like?
Definitely no Cottage Wall dsp and butterflies on this card!!! LOL!!!
Here's what happened on my way to the Stampin' Studio..........
On the trip down the 13 stairs, I decided to switch it over to a masculine theme. I need a "guy" card for an upcoming birthday. I thought about my "To the Nines" dsp that hasn't been used in months.
When I passed one of my stamping tables, I saw the Vintage Labels stamp set sitting out. I noticed how the one image reminds me of a rodeo cowboy's fancy belt buckle.
There ya have it.....the vision was born.
The base card is Sahara Sand......which is really grunged up by dragging a Close to Cocoa ink pad over it in both directions.
I then layered the pieces of dsp according to the sketch. All the dsp has been sponged with Close to Cocoa ink and distressed with my Cutter Tool.
For the ribbon portion of the sketch, I chose to use some twill tape that has been dirtied up with my Close to Cocoa ink and a sponge. For my embellishment, I set a silver eyelet into some dsp and punched it with the star punch.
For my focal image, I stamped the medallion and sentiment with Chocolate Chip ink. I punched it with the Wide Oval punch and sponged the edges with Close to Cocoa ink. I punched two Scallop Ovals using Chocolate Chip cardstock. I matted these behind the focal image to create the "buckle". This is set on dimensionals to make it really stand out on the card.
I am going to end this post with a quote from Forrest Gump.........."mama said 'life is like a box of chocolates......you never know what you're gonna get'". I can definitely say the same thing about my stamping!!!!
Until next time......Happy Stamping everyone!!
