This week seemed to fly by. Guess that's because the kids are off on Spring Break, and we've been busy every day. I've been so busy that I've been getting confused with my days.
I did remember to make my Saturday Sketch card though!!! Isn't this sketch fabulous? Selene comes up with some great ones for us to play with.
I decided to make a Mother's Day card for this week's challenge!!
When I first saw the sketch, I knew that it called for some patterned paper. I looked through my collection of dsp and decided on the Cottage Wall pack. The colors seemed very appropriate for a Mother's Day card.
My base card is Confetti White. It's much sturdier than Whisper White.
The next layer is an Old Olive paper from the pack.
Following the sketch, I added a strip of Old Olive cardstock.
The next layer is a purple patterned paper. The edges are sponged with Rich Razzleberry ink. I also stamped a gorgeous pattern (from Vintage Vogue) in the bottom right and top left corners using the same ink. This is all matted on a 1/8" larger piece of Rich Razzleberry cardstock.
Now, I took the liberty to change the shape of the next element. The sketch calls for a square, but I wanted something softer. So, I opted for an oval. The sentiment (from Well Scripted) is stamped onto Whisper White cardstock using Rich Razzleberry ink. I punched it using the Wide Oval punch and sponged the edges with Rich Razzleberry ink.
Stampin' Up! doesn't have a scalloped punch that coordinates with the Wide Oval punch. I am hoping they come out with one in the next catalog. In the mean time, I've found that using two pieces of cardstock punched with Scalloped Oval punch makes a very pretty mat!!
The finishing touches include a knot of Rich Razzleberry Polka Dot ribbon and a filigree brad decorated with a white halfback pearl.
Are you ready to take the Stamping 411 Sketch Challenge? We hope so!!!
Remember to link your card to the Stamping 411 blog using the Mr. Linky widget so we can all oogle over your gorgeous creation!!
