Oh, it's been a great week in the Chesky household! Amanda went to the doctor, and she's finally been taken out of her back brace. She is restricted with what activities she can do (especially with dance), but at least the brace is off. It's all about baby steps, right? She's a bit achy, but that's completely normal since her back muscles need to do more work now rather than the brace.
This week I decided to really play with my Button Buddies stamp set. I thought this week's Stamping 411 sketch worked perfectly with this cherries image since life is a bowl of cherries this week. As you can see, this stamp set works perfectly without the buttons too!
My base card is Chocolate Chip because everyone knows how yummy chocolate and cherries go together. Yum....I think I just developed a craving for Black Forest Cake. Hmmmmmm! I have my Weight Watcher's weigh in tomorrow. I am hoping to hit a milestone tomorrow.....so no cake for me!
Layer #2 is some Real Red polka dot dsp from the Brights Patterns dsp stack. It measures 4" x 5 1/4".
As per the sketch, the next layers are all strips of cardstock: two strips of Real Red cardstock and one skinnier one of So Saffron.
Hint: to make a perfect banner edge on the horizontal Real Red strip, I used my Pennant Builder punch. Just use one of the sides of the traditional triangle (rather than the scalloped one) to make the cut. Easy peasy!
My yummy cherries are inked up with my Real Red and Lucky Limeade Stampin' Write markers and then stamped onto some Whisper White cardstock. I punched the image using my 2 1/2" Circle punch and lightly sponged the edges with some Chocolate Chip ink.
Isn't my circle border cool? It's really easy to make. Just punch a 1 1/4" x 11" strip of Lucky Limeade cardstock using the Lace Ribbon Border punch. You probably will need two of these strips to get all the way around the circle. Now, run each of the punched strips through the paper crimper 3 times. This breaks down the fibers in the cardstock making it easier to gather and ruffle around my circle.
To make the ruffle, put adhesive on the outside edge of the back side of the circle. Gather and press the paper into the circle. As you hit the curves, gather the lace strip a bit more and it will magically make this gorgeous ruffle. Love it!!!!
If I totally confused you, just let me know! I'll make a video showing you how to do this!
All that's left on my happy cherry card is the sentiment. It's from my well-loved Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set. I punched it with the Word Window punch, lightly sponged the edges and added it to my card. Two little Mini Brads are the perfect finishing touch! I love how their size is proportionate to both the Word Window and Modern Label punches.
Well, I am off to check out what the other Stamping 411 operators have made this week. I am so blessed to work with such talented ladies!!!!
This is just the sweetest card. Love it.

This is totally adorable! More importantly, I'm glad Amanda is doing a bit better and I hope that she's back 100% very soon.

These cherries look great! I love Button Buddies. And I love the ruffled border behind the circle.
