If you're a follower of my blog, you know how much I love vintage. I was thrilled when Stampin' Up! had a wonderful vintage stamp set for the guys. It's called Clockworks, and I am in love!!!!
Now, if you've taken a peek at this stamp set in the catalog, you'll notice that the stamp with the numbers is all messed up. Please rest assured that the image is correct when you receive it.
So, for this week's Stamping 411 Saturday Sketch Challenge, I chose to make a vintage card for the guys!
I kept it pretty simple as far as matting layers. Guys don't seem to like all the fussy elements like us girls do!!!!! But, there are some things I can do to step up this card without using additional cardstock!!!
My base card is Crumb Cake. The edges are sponged with Crumb Cake ink. I also grabbed my Color Spritzer Tool and my Early Espresso marker to grunge up the base card! The vintage look is already kicking in!
The next layer is a piece of gorgeous dsp from the Fan Fair dsp pack. I used my fingernail to rough up the edges. This is one of my tricks to add visual drama without adding extra bulk of another layer of cardstock.
Layer #3 is a piece of Baja Breeze cardstock. I stamped several of the images from the Clockworks stamp set to create a custom made background paper. The edges are sponged with Crumb Cake ink to continue with the vintage look. This layer is matted onto a 1/8" larger piece of Early Espresso cardstock.
Layer #4 is a strip of Baja Breeze cardstock. I used the Direct-to-Paper technique on this layer using Crumb Cake ink. This layer is adhered to the right edge of Layer #3.
Layer #5 is a strip of Crumb Cake cardstock. Once again, I relied on the Direct-to-Paper technique to give this layer some depth. The bottom edge is cut using the Finishing Touches Edgelits. I just love the pinking border edge. This layer is finished off by adding some Early Espresso 1/8" Taffeta ribbon and some Linen Thread.
Now for my pocketwatch. The image has several components, but they all line up easily. They are inked with Early Espresso and Crumb Cake ink. I cut out the image and popped it up on dimensionals.
So what do you think of my vintage-themed guy card? I plan on exploring this stamp set in the future. I think it has tons of possibilities for not only cardmaking but also for my scrapbook layouts!
What stamp set will you explore next? The operators at the Stamping 411 hope you will use this week's sketch to create something wonderful. Make sure to link your project's web address to our blog using the Linky Tool at the bottom of the post! Hope to see you there!!!!
