Rubber Ducky, You're the One

If you have kids that ever watched Sesame Street, then you must be familiar with Ernie's Rubber Ducky song.  Well, I kept singing this song while making today's card.

Rubber duckies are adorable, and I love using them on baby cards!

Today's card is for a sweet baby girl, but just change the color from Pretty in Pink to Bashful Blue (or even Baja Breeze) for a strapping little boy.

The duckies are watercolored using my Aquapainter and Stampin' Write markers.  I just scribble the markers on a stamp set case and pick up the ink with my Aquapainter.  Keep the brighter color towards the line and make little circles with your aquapainter to blend towards the center.

Do you wanna make your image "pop"?  Well, add a little shadow using your Aquapainter and the Sahara Sand marker.  It makes SUCH a difference!

Are you singing the ducky song yet?  LOL!!!

It's a Boy

Here's the baby boy card I promised.  I really love this one!  

It uses the Baby Tee wheel.  I just roll it onto some Whisper White scrap cardstock and cut out the image I want to use.  

Easy peasy!

It's a Girl

No...you sillies!  I didn't have a baby.  One of my husband's co-workers did.  The baby's name is Skye, and she is gorgeous.  I hope we make a trip so I can hold her in person.  There's nothing like holding a baby especially when you can hand them back to their parents if they're fussy or have a dirty diaper.  

Here's the card I made for Skye's family.

The color combination is Pretty in Pink, Wisteria Wonder and So Saffron.  I think it works perfectly for a baby girl!

My base card is Whisper White.

Layer #2 is some Pretty in Pink polka dot paper from the Subtles Patterns dsp stack.  

My Wisteria Wonder scallop square is cut using the Scallop Squares Duo Bigz die and my Big Shot.  I pierced each of the scallops with my paper piercing tool.  

The So Saffron square measures 2 1/2".  I sponged the edges with So Saffron ink to give it some depth.  

My focal image comes from the Baby Tees Jumbo wheel.  I inked it up with Black StazOn ink and rolled it onto some Whisper White cardstock.  I grabbed my Aquapainter and my markers (scribbled onto a plastic stamp case) to watercolor the image.  I carefully cut it out and popped it up onto my card.  

I love the double scalloped edge on the bottom.  It reminds me of the frilly little underpants that Amanda had when she was little.  It covered up her ugly little diaper when she was wearing a dress.  

My sentiment comes from the retired hostess set called Occasional Quotes.  

The finishing touches include some Whisper White 1/4" grosgrain ribbon and a Pretty in Pink button with some White Baker's Twine tied in the center.

A New Special Someone

One of my long-distance customers just had her first baby.....a beautiful little girl named Abigail.  She just sent me her birth announcement, and this little one has quite the head of hair.  What a cutie patootie!

Of course, I had to make her a card congratulating her and her husband on their new little bundle of joy!  When I saw this week's Stamping 411 Saturday Sketch Challenge, I knew exactly what I wanted to do.

I just received the new Baby Tees jumbo wheel.  I've been eyeing it for a while now, but I never seemed to put it on my order.   What was I thinking?  This is adorable!!!  

I inked the wheel up with Basic Black ink and wheeled it along a strip of Whisper White cardstock.  I watercolored my image by scribbling with my Stampin' Write Markers on a stamp set case and picking up the ink with my Aquapainter.  The colors used are Pretty in Pink, So Saffron and Certainly Celery. I carefully cut out the onesie image.  Now, it did get a little tricky along the curve of the hanger.  So, I got a little inventive and used my small circle handpunches to slowly punch out the paper in that tight curve.  My honey would be so proud!!!!

The onesie is popped up on dimensionals on a Whisper White layer that has been paper pierced along the edges.  Make sure to use your Paper Piercing guide to help you get perfectly straight and spaced holes.  This layer is then matted on some So Saffron cardstock.

My base card is Pink Pirouette cardstock.

Layer #2 is some wonderful Pretty in Pink polka dotted dsp from the Subtles Patterns dsp stack.  Polka dotted patterns are just perfect for a baby card, don't you think?  Before gluing this layer down I added a double ribbon treatment.  

Now, one part of the sketch did throw me for a loop.  I couldn't get a bow or knot to look right without overpowering the onesie.  So, I took some creative liberties and added a ribbon ruffle along the left side of the focal image.  I think the little safety pin works perfectly for my baby card.  

All that's left is my greeting.  The "welcome baby" comes from the Something to Celebrate stamp set (level 2 hostess set in the Occasions Mini), and I think it's sweet font is the perfect accompaniment.  Aren't the little green pearls the bomb?  I made them!  All you do is color the Basic Pearls with a Sharpie marker.  Easy peasy!!!

 I haven't made a baby card in forever!  I hope Kimberly likes her card for her new special someone!!!
