I am going back to my papercrafting roots today.  That's right, many years ago my addiction with papercrafting started with scrapbooking. 

Today I am going to share with you one of the scrapbook pages we are going to make at this month's scrapbooking class. 

I just love the new Peek-a-boo Frames Bigz die.  It allows me to make cute journaling areas and titles!!!

 

If you are interested in attending my scrapbooking class, the date is Wenesday, October 26th at 7:00pm.  Please bring your scissors and favorite adhesive to class with you.

At class, we'll be making two double 12x12 layouts (4 pages total).

My Digital Studio

I'm sure you've heard all the buzz about Stampin' Up's digital software called My Digital Studio which is available for purchase on October 1st.

Well, let me tell you.......My Digital Studio is so wicked cool (as my teens would say)!!!!

Last week, I played around with it and quickly made a new blog banner.  Isn't it pretty?

Last night, I decided to make my first digital scrapbook page.

First thing to know about MDS....it's perfect for both the beginner and advanced user.  You can:

1. use pre-designed pages (i.e. everything is done for you......just add your photos)
2. use photo layouts and then add your own papers and embellishments
3. design from scratch

I've seen option 1 on training videos.....I wanted to try designing something from scratch.

Guess what?  It was SO stinkin' easy to do!!!

Here's what I did:

• picked my background paper
• created the flower strip by adding a "square punch"....then just dragged my mouse to make it the shape of a rectangle.  I then clicked a button to give it a mat.
• created a scallop circle punch......then dragged my mouse to make it bigger
• added some text......and moved it on top of my scallop circle
• added another "square punch".....made it bigger.....picked a color.....now I have a journaling area
• typed the text and moved it over the journaling area
• added the photos (clicked a button to give each of them a mat)
• added the ribbon

I told you......so easy.....everything is controlled by clicking and dragging your mouse!!!!  

Even if you are a traditional scrapper, MDS is perfect to help you plan your pages.  It's nice to see what your layout is going to look like without wasting any cardstock and embellishments to experiment.

I am currently working on being certified on My Digital Studio so I can answer any questions you may have.

Celebrate....

 Since May is National Scrapbooking Month, and I needed to clean my stampin' desk.....I decided to make a scrapbook page with some of the leftover pieces of cardstock on my desk.  That totally counts as cleaning, right?  Well....that's my story, and I'm sticking to it.

This cute little 6x6" scrapbook page come together very quickly last night while watching American Idol.  BTW....so excited Kris made it into the final.

The layout base is Rose Red.  The title (from the Celebrate Everything stamp set) is stamped on So Saffron cardstock with Rose Red ink.  I used the Scallop Edge punch on the bottom edge of the cardstock.  I took my Rose Red marker and added some dot work to the top edge and inside each scallop.  Some White Sating ribbon (from the Occasions Mini) adorns the top edge as well as half of a small oval (punched from scrap of Whisper White).  A cute little Rose Red brad sits in the center to set it off perfectly.

The photo mat is Certainly Celery which has been matted on some Whisper White.  Behind it sits a since Photo Corner (punched from So Saffron cardstock with the Photo Corner punch).

The cupcake and present images come from the Level 1 hostess set called Delicate Dots.  This stamp set is so adorable for both stamping and scrappin'.  Each of the images are colored with Stampin' Write markers and stamped on scraps of Whisper White cardstock.  I punched the images with the 1 1/4" circle punch, lightly sponged the edges with Close to Cocoa and matted on 1 3/8" So Saffron circles (thank you circle punches....you make my papercrafting SO easy)!!!

Easy peasy....scrapbook page.....DONE!!!  It's going to take me longer to find the pics of Amanda's birthday party than it did to create the page!!!

Finally!!!!

  I am SO sorry!!!  I promised you a project, but the battery was dead on the camera and then my stampers came for my "Mom & Me" Stamp Camp.

This class was a blast.  The kids did most of the stamping while the moms were there to help if they needed it.  The kids did fabulous....not much grown up help at all!!!

This was one of the projects we made last night.  It uses a stamp set from the Occasions Mini Catalog (which starts on April 1st).  It's called Just Beachy, and it is WAY too cute!!!!

Now, it was a challenge to keep the projects simple for the kiddos.  The ages of the children ranged from 6 to 11 years old.  So, the projects needed to be fun and on the simple side.  Sometimes simple isn't so easy for me!!!  LOL!!!

The Pacific Point page measures 6"x6".  On the bottom I have a strip of Tangerine Tango that measures 2" x 6".  The kids stamped the word "swim" using Tangerine Tango ink and the Schoolbook Serif alphabet.  I taught the kids to stamp from right to left in order to get the spacing correct.  It's hard to see but there is also a sun stamped in the lower left corner.

The place where the cardstock meets is hidden with some Tangerine Tango double-striped grosgrain ribbon.

The photo will be matted on some Green Galore that has been matted on Whisper White.

The fishies are stamped on Whisper White and punched with a 1 1/4" circle punch.  They are colored in with markers and matted on Tempting Turquoise and Tangerine Tango (punched with 1 3/8" circle punch).

The kids loved their page.  They planned on putting this page in a scrapbook they decorated at last night's class too!!

Everyone seemed to have a blast!!!!

In a Scrappin' Mood

  Once again, I've been in a scrappin' mood.  I printed off a whole bunch of pictures online and sent them to my local Target.  I LOVE this!!  I can print exactly the pictures I want and pick them up when I go grocery shopping.

These pictures are of our first pumpkin picking trip living in MN.  It was a beautiful Fall day spent with my brother and his family (baby Emma was asleep so we don't have pics of her at the patch).

I used the photos and the patterned paper to help me with my cardstock color selection.  I used this year's Ghostly Greetings patterned paper pack for both the strip on the left and the backdrop for the date. 

I made the adorable jack-o-lantern using the Autumn Harvest stamp set.  I stamped the pumpkin on Pumpkin Pie cardstock and cut him out.  I also stamped him on some Old Olive.  I only cut out the stem of this one and glue it on top of the jack-o-lantern.

The "p" from the title is a piece of chipboard that I colored with Basic Black craft ink and a sponge dauber.  I then quickly sprinkled on some clear embossing powder and heated 'til shiny.  The rest of the title was stamped using my Simple Serif mini alphabet.

I have fun little touches all over this page.....the scallop edge on the left side of the patterned paper, the small oval punches folded over the edges for a cool embellishment.  My favorite part is how I did the date.  It uses both the Word Window punch and 1 3/8" circle punch layered over each other.

I love this page.....but not as much as all those kids that we had at the patch with us that day!!!!

Aren't long holiday weekends the best?  I love stampin' and scrappin' in my jammies!!!!

Best Buds

I've been in a scrappin' mood lately.  I've been printing off my pics to my local Target and getting our personal albums updated.

This layout is when my youngest niece was born.  I can't get over how much Christopher and Amanda have changed over 2 years.  They look so grown up now....boo hoo!!!

The main picture is of all the cousins who are truly "best buds".

I love all this scrappin' as I am using up a lot of the patterned paper I've been hoarding.  This blue patterned paper comes from the Cutie Pie designer series pack (retired).  It's a really simple layout.  I used my Schoolbook Serif alphabet for the title (stamped in Real Red).

The flowers are Primas that I've had in my stash forevah........it's time to use them up....no more hoarding!!!

Know what I love to use on my layouts?  Rub ons!!  You can see where I used one above Chris' picture.  They are from the Summer Day rub on pack.  Love 'em.  They transfer SO easy.
